Ram Chakravarti is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a member of the Executive Leadership Team at BMC Software. He is responsible for BMC’s technology strategy, innovation, cross-pillar tech services, technology advocacy and corporate development. He is also as the Chief Tech Evangelist for BMC. His most recent focus has been in bringing to market, AI & GenAI solutions in Automation, Data Management and Edge Computing that add to BMC’s product portfolio.
Prior to joining BMC, Ram was a Tech Operating Partner at KKR, focused on diligence and tech-enabled value creation in KKR’s technology investments in private equity and growth equity. Prior to working at KKR, Ram was an associate partner at McKinsey & Company, where he advised clients on large-scale, multi-year digital transformations, and established McKinsey’s Digital Architecture Service Line in North America. Earlier in his career, Ram worked at Oracle, Ariba, tech startups, and Merck in a variety of software engineering roles.
Ram holds master’s degrees in decision sciences and organizational dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science. He has co-authored a book on R&D and IT portfolio management which is being used in graduate programs at the University of Pennsylvania and other schools in the U.S.
