Javagal Srinath

Javagal Srinath, born on August 31, 1969, is a former Indian cricketer who currently serves as an ICC match referee. Regarded as one of India's premier fast bowlers, he made history by becoming the first Indian to claim over 300 wickets in One Day Internationals. Notable achievements include being part of the victorious Indian team in the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, which they shared with Sri Lanka, and reaching the final of the 2003 Cricket World Cup.

Throughout his career, Srinath spearheaded India's fast bowling attack, following in the footsteps of Kapil Dev as the second Indian pacer to reach 200 Test match wickets. He led the pace department for over nine years after Kapil Dev's retirement. Srinath remains India's second-highest wicket-taker in ODIs with 315 dismissals, just behind Anil Kumble. His prowess was evident in the four World Cups he participated in: 1992, 1996, 1999, and 2003, where he claimed 44 wickets, sharing the title of India's top World Cup wicket-taker with Zaheer Khan. Known for his speed, Srinath ranks among the fastest bowlers to have represented India.

Following the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, Srinath bid farewell to international cricket, marking the end of a remarkable career.
